Apple 7

Apple 7

Well, today I ordered my cell phone to use in Antibes, France. I also received approval for the Hudson Valley Wine Festival poster which I will upload for all to see before I depart.

This has been a bit of a stressful journey thus far .... I can't even begin to tell you. And ... my opening exhibition will be on July 3rd - THE DAY THAT I ARRIVE !!! So .... no relaxing wine on the plane .... no 'oh, my luggage didn't arrive, that's ok' ... no few days to psyche myself up and try on various outfits .... BUT .... it's Antibes. The trip of a lifetime. The French Riviera.

And ... no matter what happens ... as long as everyone stays healthy and happy back in the US of A, everything should be ok. I already have my 20 rolls of slide film -- what a French 'Fete' we shall have when I return !!!!

Voila !!

Pear 2

What can I say ... another Pear ... but. I just love the feminine shape of the pear. And, this color .. along with the background color, reminds me of Nana. Old fashioned ... and everything that you would love in a 'Grandma'.

Exhibition in Antibes, France

Ahhh ... Bon Jour,

If you happen to be in the South of France - the French Riviera, please accept an invitation to my exhibition 'Jazz'. The show will run concurrent with the Jazz a Juan 'Jazz Festival' in Antibes Juan-les-Pins.

The exhibition is in the Gallery Bains Douches in Antibes, France.

Bains Douches

Juan-les-Pins is a town in the commune of Antibes, in the Alpes-Maritimes, in southeastern France, on the Côte d'Azur, which is part of the Ligurian Sea. It is famous for its annual jazz festival in July. New Orleans is a sister city, something which for a series of years was manifested with carnival festivities in the streets of Juan-les-Pins, with both local and New Orleans jazz bands parading.

It is a major holiday destination, with casino, nightclubs and beaches, which are made of fine grained sand, and are not straight, but instead are cut with small inlets.

KRAFT Macaroni and Cheese

KRAFT Macaroni and Cheese

In 1937, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese dinner was introduced in the U.S. and Canada by Sam Kraft. The timing of the product's launch had much to do with its success. During World War II, rationing on milk and dairy, and an increased reliance on meatless entrees, created a captive market for the product, which was considered a hearty meal for families.

The following decades introduced improvements in flavor, shelf life and, eventually, different shapes. New shape expansions to the brand began in 1975 with spirals, and then wheels in 1988. In the mid-1990s, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese expanded into even more innovative shapes with noodles in the form of popular kids' characters, including: Super Mario Brothers, Flintstones, Bugs Bunny and Friends, Rugrats, Pokémon, Blue's Clues, Animaniacs, Scooby Doo! and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Boston Red Sox Baseball XIV

Boston Red Sox Baseball XIV • this painting is sold

Ok ... ok ... I do have a bit of allegiance here ... this is my 14th Red Sox Baseball painting and only ONCE in my baseball painting endeavor did any other team fan email me ... for a Yankee's baseball ... but then never followed up on it.

So .... I'm willing to take the pledge. For the 100th year of the Boston Red Sox name ... I'm going to do my darndest to paint 100 Boston Red Sox Baseballs !!!! If you're interested in taking home an original oil painting of a Boston Red Sox Baseball, just email me.

The Boston Red Sox is one of the oldest teams in Baseball. They were officially known as the Boston’s, or known as Americans, Somerset’s and the Pilgrims. However on the 18th of December in the year 1907 the team was renamed as the Boston Red Sox. The team was renamed when the then owner John Taylor noticed that the team themselves had stopped wearing the traditional red stockings. After noticing this he declared that the team (American League Boston) would be renamed as the Red Sox and furthermore, red stockings would be a part of the team’s uniform.

Animal Crackers 3

Animal Crackers 3 • this painting is sold

In the late 1800s, animal-shaped cookies (or "biscuits" in British terminology) called "Animals" were imported from England to the United States. The demand for these crackers grew to the point that bakers began to produce them domestically. Stauffer’s Biscuit Company produced their first batch of animal crackers in 1871 in York, Pennsylvania. Other domestic bakeries, including the Dozier-Weyl Cracker Company of St. Louis and the Holmes and Coutts Company of New York City, were the predecessors of the National Biscuit Company, today's "Nabisco Brands". Under the National Biscuit Company banner, animal biscuit crackers were made and distributed.

It was in 1902 that animal crackers officially became "Barnum's Animals" and evoked the familiar circus time theme. Later in 1902, the now-familiar box was designed for the Christmas season with the innovative idea of attaching a string to hang from the Christmas tree. Up until that time, crackers were generally only sold in bulk (the proverbial "cracker barrel") or in large tins. These small cartons, which retailed for five cents at the time of their release, were a big hit and are still sold today. The number and variety of contained in each box has varied over the years. In total, 54 different animals have been represented by animal crackers since 1902.

In its current incarnation, each package contains 22 crackers consisting of a variety of animals. The most recent addition, the koala was added in September 2002 after being chosen by consumer votes, beating out the penguin, walrus and cobra.

Begonias

Happy Father's Day

The Children's Hour
by Henry W. Longfellow

Between the dark and the daylight,
When the night is beginning to lower,
Comes a pause in the day's occupations,
That is known as the Children's Hour.

I hear in the chamber above me
The patter of little feet,
The sound of a door that is opened,
And voices soft and sweet.

From my study I see in the lamplight,
Descending the broad hall stair,
Grave Alice, and laughing Allegra,
And Edith with golden hair.

A whisper, and then a silence:
Yet I know by their merry eyes
They are plotting and planning together
To take me by surprise.

A sudden rush from the stairway,
A sudden raid from the hall!
By three doors left unguarded
They enter my castle wall!

They climb up into my turret
O'er the arms and back of my chair;
If I try to escape, they surround me;
They seem to be everywhere.

They almost devour me with kisses,
Their arms about me entwine,
Till I think of the Bishop of Bingen
In his Mouse-tower on the Rhine!

Do you think, O blue-eyed banditti,
Because you have scaled the wall,
Such an old mustache as I am
Is not a match for you all!

I have you fast in my fortress,
And will not let you depart,
But put you down into the dungeon
In the round-tower of my heart.

And there will I keep you forever,
Yes, forever and a day,
Till the walls shall crumble to ruin,
And moulder in dust away!

B&M Baked Beans

B&M Since 1867 • The Only Brick Oven Baked Bean

When you ladle out B&M Brick Oven Baked Beans, you’re dipping into real, authentic American food history! The B&M recipe is centuries old. B&M has been cooking up Brick Oven Baked Beans since 1867. Their beans are slow-baked in small batches in old-fashioned brick ovens and the beans are still hand-stirred for that rich, homemade flavor.

Oreo Cookies

Oreo Cookies

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM !!

is a trademark for a popular sandwich cookie currently manufactured by the Nabisco Division of Kraft Foods. The current design consists of a sweet, white filling commonly referred to as 'cream' or 'creme', sandwiched between two circular chocolate cookies. Over 491 billion Oreo cookies have been sold since they were first introduced, making them the best selling cookie of the 20th century. Its most recent packaging slogan is "Milk's Favorite Cookie", which is a slight change from "America's Favorite Cookie" (though some packages in the U.S. contain the original slogan).

There are many theories pointing to the origin of the name 'Oreo', including derivations from the French word 'Or', meaning gold (as early packaging was gold), or the Greek word 'Oros', meaning mountain or hill (as the original Oreo was mound shaped) or even the Greek word 'Oreos', meaning beautiful/nice. Other theories are that the 're' from cream was 'sandwiched' between the two Os from chocolate, or the word 'just seemed like a nice, melodic combination of sounds'.

Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels • this painting is sold

Who didn't have cool 'Hot Wheels' growing up?

Hot Wheels is a brand of die cast toy car, introduced by American toymaker Mattel in 1968. It was the primary competitor of Johnny Lightning and Matchbox until 1996, when Mattel acquired rights to the Matchbox brand from Tyco. The original, and now famous, Hot Wheels logo was designed by California artist Rick Irons, who at that time worked for Mattel.

Originally the cars and trucks were manufactured to approximately 1:64 scale and designed to be used on associated Hot Wheels track sets, but by 1970 a series of 1:43 scale 'Gran Toros' were introduced and more recently a range of highly detailed adult collector vehicles, including replicas of Formula One and NASCAR cars, have found success. However the brand remains most famous for the small scale free-rolling models of custom hot rods and muscle cars it has produced since the range first appeared. Today, there are roughly 10,000 different models of Hot Wheel Cars.

Organic Gold Beets

Organic Gold Beets • this painting is sold

I bought these beets today with other garden vegetables. I never laid my eyes on them before. So .... intrigued by the sunset color, the hearty weight, the graceful lines ... I purchased them.

After I painted them today I thought ... hmmm ... what now? I took them home, sautéed them on my stove top skillet and ate them in a salad. They still tasted like beets. Sautéed beets. BUT, they make for a beautiful still life painting.
